as it should be...
Come and find the online shops that we
recommend to our friends! We spend our time pootling around
cyberspace to find the UK's best online boutiques and shops - and we
invite the ones we like the most to join the town. You can see
some of the shops in the street panel above, but the best way to
enjoy the town is to plunge in and start exploring our specialist
streets of handpicked shops. Read on for some ideas
where to start.
Incidentally, we don't like this idea of taking the
products from lots of different shops and throwing them all at
you in a kind of product soup. Each of our shops has a
character that places its products in context. So when
you find a shop you like, you click through to the shop's own
website - a bit like going through the door and into the shop,
really. When you want to come back to the town, just
close the new tab or browser window that the shop website opened
in, and, voila, you're back in the town!
Clothes shops
We have found lots of clothes shops and fashion boutiques that we like!
You could probably fill a town about the size of Cambridge with nothing but
clothes shops, if you built this part of the town in real world. But, handily for you, we've laid them out
in themed
streets. So if you are looking for, say, men's jumpers or ladies' dresses,
you go to the Men's Jumpers Street or Ladies' Dresses Street.
There are lots of these, including city suits, dressing gowns, children's shoes and women's knitwear, to name but a few. We also have niche streets for things like vintage clothing and fashion boutiques.
Present shopping
We're not great fans of the idea of the one stop "gift shop", where
one shop tries to sell everything you could possibly want to
give anyone as a gift.
 We look at it the other way around. We think
of things that make good gifts, and then we build streets
populated with great online shops for buying those things.
Some of the shops we include are big, well-known shops, but we particularly like
the niche shops - the sort of side-alley boutiques that
have unusual or attractive things you don't see all over the
place. Have a wander around our gifts section
and see what you think. The best way to start is to
work out first if you are looking for Gifts for Him, Gifts for Her, Gifts for Children or (wait for it...) Pet Gifts.
Home and garden shops
Everyone looks for a bit of individuality in their
homes. Take a look around the home and garden quarter of
the town to find some off-the-beaten track online shops
with fun ideas for for children's bedroom furniture,
or
designer home accessories, or duvet covers.
Find shops with clever ways to make your home eco-friendly.
And lots more...
